Product Description

ACCH class Oct 13th @1815 (6:15pm) -(Former Student Discount Applied)

Wake County Firearms & Training Center   Apex, NC

This class is designed for the person who has their CCH but has no (or little) formal handgun training.  The student is carrying their handgun for personal protection and needs to hone their skills in order to improve both their familiarity and skills with their chosen pistol.  The class was created with wide latitude allowing a broad range of skill levels to benefit from the class.

8 students (4 hours)       Students need to be 18 years of age or older (Exceptions can be made with a parent or guardian attending)

This class is designed to teach the student the fundamentals of defensive pistol shooting.

The student is instructed in firearm safety, grip, sight alignment, stance, presentation, trigger control, target acquisition, & high and low ready position during the (1) one hour of classroom lecture (we have been getting to the range early so approximatly 35 minutes).  The class then moves to the indoor range for (3) three hours of live fire instruction.

Student Required to Bring:

  1. Handgun
  2. 250-400 rounds of appropriate ammunition
  3. OTW Suitable holster of correct size and type (if unsure please inquire)
  4. Two (at least) spare magazine- If your pistol is a single stack PLEASE bring several extra magazines.
  5. Magazine holder
  6. Shooting glasses
  7. Range ears

This is a "lost brass" class.  (Please choose ammunition accordingly)

The fundamentals of defensive shooting are taught from distances of (3) three to (10) yards utilizing a variety of targets.  Call targets of different colors, shapes, and compositions are used in order to challenge the shooter regardless of skill level.   We designed this class to give any shooter, which has completed their NC CCH, a series of exercises that will improve both skill and confidence.  We designed this class to instill familiarity with the handgun. Once the student gains proficiency with the firearm he/she will no longer view the handgun with intrepidation and he/she will look forward to the range.  Once the student becomes comfortable and self-assured the range time will become both enjoyable and productive. Upon completion of this class the student will no longer look at the handgun as a mystery but as a tool.  When the barriers are removed the improvements in shooting ability will be prompt and natural.  It is for this reason that the live fire exercises are designed to be both entertaining and fun.  The student will improve her/his skills and gain a new confidence in both himself and her/his firearm of choice.

The class is kept to (8) eight students with (4) four instructors to ensure each student receives the applicable instruction.  Each student is assessed and then the live fire drills are adjusted to be commensurate with the student's abilities.  This course is exciting, fast paced, and above all...FUN.

  1. Excellent class with even better instructors 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Oct 2018

This class was definitely worth the money. The instructors were able to immediately identify my mistakes and correct them. I already feel like a much better shooter. The four hours flew by before I knew it. I'm looking forward to future classes.

  2. Great Defencive Hand Gun Class 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Jul 2017

Roger, Zack and the rest of the team went above and beyond. The class was not only great with improving your basic skill but also getting you ready for a practical situation. Great class for shooters at multiple levels. I should also mention it was a blast!!

  3. Excellent follow up from the CCH class. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Mar 2017

The class is worth it in every way. Roger and his team will take the time to go through everything from stance to grip to alignment. They cover a number of drills, what the intention is and then go over everything from your strong points to areas of opportunity for improvement. The entire staff is knowledgeable and courteous.
I built a great sense of confidence as I progressed through the drills and plan on practicing those drills at the range there after.
I would strongly recommend this class after a CCH. Especially if you have limited experience. There is always opportunity to learn from those with much more experience. Working with this group is truly a blessing as they are all to happy to offer their insight and experience with all facets from handling a gun all the way to handling a situation. My sincerest appreciation goes out to the group.

  4. Where's the 10 stars Choice?? Great class!! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Jan 2017

I didn't know exactly what to expect when signing up for this class. I had only previously gotten my CCH permit and that was 3 years ago. I thought it was time to become more proficient and knowledgeable about my weapon and how to use it. Also, needing to be more confident and comfortable with it and this class seemed to be one that would help me with it. Little did I know that I wish I could go back in time and have taken my CCH class with these guys!! They were awesome, patient, knowledgeable and fun to work with. They exceeded my expectations and now I have more confidence and want to take more classes to become even better. Big shout out to Roger and Zack for taking the time with me when I know they didn't have to. I recommend these guys for all of your training and I'm waiting for the next class up to open so I can sign up. Thanks again!!

  5. A license without skills is DUMB 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Dec 2016

Acquiring a driver’s license is a relatively easy process. Many years ago, when I got mine in Pennsylvania, it wasn’t necessary to take driver education classes in order to get my license. My father and I thought that professional driver education classes would be beneficial, so I took them before I got my license. They were helpful indeed, but even with this additional training, when I began driving on the streets of Pittsburgh, I really wasn’t adequately prepared. It took me years of thoughtful driving to develop the highest level of skill behind the wheel and I’ll match my capabilities against ANYONE.

I began riding motorcycles in 1967 and owned several between 1967 and 1979. When I decided to re-enter the world of motorcycle riding in 2006, I decided to take an unnecessary class at the Harley Davidson dealership. I was amazed to learn that many of my cycling instincts and previous training were wrong. As a result of the training class, I was well equipped to ride my motorcycle as safely as possible.

In 2002, I got a CCH permit, a Glock 19, and a Kel-Tec 2Pat, but I never used them. I simply got the permit and considered myself adequately trained because I could hit a stationary paper target with great precision. WHAT BALONEY! My permit expired and I spent several years without a pistol.

A few weeks ago, I received my “Pistol Purchase Permit” from the Wake County Sheriff’s office and I decided to get another CCH permit, so I enrolled in Roger Pettit’s class. Not wanting to repeat my previous mistake, I decided to take his “ACCH” (After Concealed Carry Handgun) class. After taking this second class, I couldn’t be happier or feel more secure with my shooting skills or my ability to make sound, practical, life-saving decisions.

I strongly encourage anyone reading this review to enroll in Roger’s ACCH class; I’m sure you’ll be happy that you did.
