Roger L. Pettit II

Disabled Marine with over 40 years of experience with firearms. I was disabled in the US Marine Corp in 1988 and attended Marietta College receiving a B.S. in Industrial Engineering (Cum Laude). I then attended Ohio University working towards a Master’s of Science in Environmental Science with a specialty in Environmental Engineering. I have worked for BATTELE, FEMA, NC SERT, NC CC&PS, NIOSH, Ohio EPA, & US EPA.

I quickly became bored working in the engineering and financial sectors and started seeking employment in the security sector. I have been employed as a Fugitive Recovery Agent, Contractor and in the executive protection industry. There was an unsuccessful operation at the Durham Veterans Hospital in which I could no longer meet the demands of rigorous physical activity which led me to become a civilian instructor. I have received a number of high marksmanship awards both in and out of the service and have shot competitively most of my life. I am a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NC DOJ CCH Instructor, Range Safety Officer (RSO), Metallic Reloading Instructor, and NRA Recruiter. I have had to use force-on-force in my lifetime and this real-world experience allows me to help my students prepare our students for both the intended and unattended consequences of utilizing deadly force.

Over the years, I have taken a large number of people that have NEVER picked up a gun, and in the course of just a few hours, given them the skills and confidence to be well on their way to becoming proficient in the use of that firearm. I have two daughters and have learned that one can never have enough patience and nothing can be taken for granted. Our classes are taught in a comfortable classroom that is conducive to learning and an enjoyable experience.

 Jay Weatherinton

Grew up in the Northern Virginia area in a military family.  After graduating from Woodbridge High School in 2009, He went on to play football at Liberty University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. After marrying his wife Hannah in May of 2013, the two moved down the RDU area.  Currently Jay is a firearms associate and archery technician at Gander Mountain in Morrisville, as well as an EMT.  Jay has been part of the PC Shooting team since 2013.  He has been shooting since 1994, when he shot his first handgun and fell in love it.  Jay is familiar with and handles a wide variety of firearms and is more than willing to talk to you about and show you which gun is the right fit for you.  He has become one of our "Go To" instructors and has the patience to ensure every student gets the attention he/she needs or wants.

 Bill Bradley

Born March 9, 1961 in Charlotte, Bill graduated high school in Winston Salem, NC. He shipped out to the Marine Corp in 1980, and was a part of the 2nd Battalion 10th Marines.  He served on 3 deployments on the USS Saipan in the 32nd Marine Amphibious Unit. After leaving the Marine Corps Bill married his wife Julie (also an instructor), a flight attendant with Piedmont Airlines. He was stationed in Roanoke, VA, and graduated from Virginia College with a Bachelor's in Computer Science. Bill is an NRA Instructor, NCDOJ certified conceal carry instructor, and NRA range safety officer.

 Kyle H.

Kyle is an Assistant Instructor and has been with PC Shooting since its inception. He is originally from western North Carolina and recently relocated to the Triangle after attending NC State University. Kyle’s main interests are the use, research, and trade of handguns—No one finds a deal quite like him. He has been actively shooting for over 10 years and has carried a NC CCH permit for over three years. Kyle’s lack of military background and age makes him relatable with the majority of students. Kyle has “been in your shoes” and wants to see you succeed in protecting what’s important to you.

 Zachary Taylor IV

Zack has been with PC Shooting since the VERY beginning, since it was actually his idea for Roger to recertify and begin teaching again.  He served in the USMC as a Radio Operator achieving the rank of Sargent.   While he was in the reserves he obtained his BS in Computer Science from University of Maryland and was recruited by Microsoft and moved to Seattle, WA.  He has been instrumental in the creation of just about anything having to do with a computer.  Zack has infinite patience as confirmed by his ability to instruct Roger in the joys of web site development, as Roger is just one notch above being able to change the clock on the proverbial VCR.  Zack has his CCH, completed the ACCH class in Beta, and assisted in just about every aspect of PC Shooting at one time or another.

 Hunter Elliott

I spent much of my youth involved with firearms and felt the call early on to the United States Marine Corps, following in my father's and his brother's footsteps. Just after high school I enlisted and felt most at home on the rifle range, where I qualified expert with several firearms. Sometimes serving as a coach to my fellow Marines. After being honorable discharged I continued teaching firearm safety, rifle and pistol marksmanship, and began teaching metallic cartridge reloading. In the late 1990s I became a life member to the National Rifle Association and worked with the Friends of the NRA. Around that time my father and I became involved with IDPA and competed together up until he passed away. I began reviewing firearms for publications in the mid 2000s and have been fortunate to make many friends in the industry. I have continued to improve my firearms skills and knowledge, which is a never ending journey. Oh and I am a Colt fanatic.

 Stacey Willard

Stacey originally from Florida has been living in Wake County for 14yrs. She has been with PC Shooting since it's first year, and took the second CCH class ever offered because she was always interested in guns and learning everything possible about them. Then a few months later was working for the company.  She is in her Junior year of getting her Bachelors in Criminal Justice, then going on to Mortuary school to become a mortician, and is working on becoming a certified instructor.  She is in charge of the “back of the house”, along with PR, photography, and running the Social media pages for the company. As well as setting up and organizing all elements when it comes to the range i.e. Targets, Ammo, Protection, Certificates. She is still actively shooting with Roger and improving her shooting skills and knowledge.

 Steve S.

Steve brings a wealth of firearm knowledge and skill to PC Shooting. He has been an assistant since the start of the business and as a former Special Forces Medic, Fire Fighter, and current competitive shooter brings current trends and techniques to the table. He has numerous NRA Marksmanship awards for both pistol and rifle with several top ten finishes in NSSA US Open. Steve teaches weapon retention and disarmament along with contributing his experience at the range. He is currently one of the local top competitors in the National 3-gun series and is one of the most patient instructors currently employed by PC shooting.

 Kayla B.

Kayla is a current Senior at North Carolina working toward her Bachelor’s in Social Work and will graduate in December of 2014. She aspires to earn her Master’s in Social Work with a Mental Health and Community Organizing focus from NCSU in May 2016. She is 26 years old and has worked for PC Shooting for a long time now. She was impressed with the wealth of knowledge and attention to real-life details Roger afforded through his instruction. His attention to the applicability of theory to practice, and his life-long experience is what impressed her most.  A long-time friend of Roger, she earned her CCH in 2011, and is active in researching and understanding gun laws and pursuing safe and efficient gun-handling policy.

Michael Salter

Michael is a Technical Writer with his Master’s degree in English who is fascinated with all minute criteria involved in anything technical. He  started shooting several years ago and fell in love with it. Roger played a huge part in this love as it is Roger’s expertise and guidance which have helped foster his abilities behind the trigger.

David Babnaw

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, David Babnaw has been in North Carolina since 2006. Shortly after discovering PC Shooting he took his first CCH class in 2013. One of the newest members of the team, he is focusing on expanding his knowledge in gunsmithing.
